Oriental Stir-Fry

Not sure the exact source of this recipe, but I will credit it to my mother.  This is the recipe she always made when we were growing up living at home.  It was always my favourite, and continues to be!

ingredients:
1 lb. chicken (or sirloin steak or pork)
1 tbsp. cornstarch
3 tbsp soya sauce
5 tbsp. cooking oil, divided
3 cups fresh mushrooms, sliced
2 large red, green, or yellow peppers, cut into strips
1 tsp. dried chili pepper

sauce:
2 tsp. cornstarch
1/3 cup water
1 tbsp. soya sauce

directions:
1. Cut chicken into bite-sized cubes (or beef or pork into strips).
2. Mix cornstarch and soya sauce until smooth.  Add meat, mixing thoroughly to coat and let marinate about an hour.
3. Heat 3 tbsp. oil in a large fry pan or wok over medium-high heat.  Cook meat until no longer pink, then remove.  Add remaining 2 tbsp. oil.
4. Add vegetables (you can really use whatever ones you choose.  Even a package of frozen stir-fry veggies) and chili pepper and stir-fry until tender crisp.
5. Mix sauce ingredients until smooth.  Add meat back into pan along with the sauce, stirring while cooking until slightly thickened.
6. Serve over hot rice or pasta.

  1. I like this recipe, I want to cook this oriental stir fry because it was almost the same with stir fried chicken. I hope that I can cook it perfect so that I can taste the real taste of it. Thanks for this recipe.
